What are Airbnb and Vrbo actually costing you?
Enter what you gross on each platform. Most operators run more than one, so the calculator handles them together. It gives you the real number, even when the honest answer is that direct booking isn't worth paying for yet.
How this is computed
The defaults are Airbnb's current published single host fee, 15.5 percent, and Vrbo's pay-per-booking rate, 5 percent commission plus 3 percent payment processing, about 8 percent all in. You can change both fee fields. They are there for an older, negotiated, or grandfathered rate. Vrbo has a second fee shape: a flat annual subscription plus a smaller processing percentage. We use $699 a year plus 3 percent, the same figures as this site's own break-even model. It is closed to new subscribers but still real for anyone already on it, and you can select it above instead of guessing at an equivalent percentage. A booking taken direct through Stripe costs 2.9 percent plus 30 cents, and the calculator spreads the 30 cents across an assumed $900 average booking. This is the fee schedule each platform already publishes, applied to the numbers you entered, and it is not a projection.

Only two platforms are priced in here so far. Airbnb and Vrbo are the two with a published, sourced fee schedule in this site's own numbers. We left out Booking.com and the others instead of guessing at a rate we haven't checked. If you use a platform that isn't listed and want it added, email hello@shorttermrentaldirect.com.
