Short Term Rental Direct vs OwnerRez
OwnerRez is a real, mature vacation rental platform, with published customer reviews and years of engineering behind it. This is not one, not yet. Right now there is a design and a landing site, not a shipped product. If you already run a full property management platform, you probably don't need this, and the rest of the page says where and why.
What each one actually is
OwnerRez manages a whole vacation rental business. It has direct API channel management to Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, and Google Vacation Rentals, guest messaging with automation, a website builder for your own direct booking site, accounting, owner statements, a CRM, reporting, and digital signatures. A long list of paid add-ons sits on top: QuickBooks, SMS, an AI assistant, door locks, damage protection. You get one account, priced per property.
Short Term Rental Direct is deliberately narrow. It is a bookable page under your own brand and a connection to your own Stripe account. There is no channel management, no owner statements, no CRM, and no dynamic pricing. It is for someone who specifically does not want a full platform, not for someone comparing feature counts.
The price, at your actual unit count
OwnerRez prices per property on a sliding scale, published in its Costs and Fees article: the more properties, the cheaper each one gets. Channel management, digital signatures, and team and owner portal access are free and included in that base price. Everything else on the list above is a separate paid add-on with its own pricing table. Our price is flat per tier, so the bill does not change as you add units within a tier.

Below 46 units, OwnerRez is cheaper than us on subscription price alone. Its base price also already includes real two-way channel management to Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, and Google, which we do not have. If you weigh price and features together, OwnerRez wins for the large majority of single-operator portfolios. The crossover where our flat fee wins on price is narrow, and it sits above where most operators we have researched actually are.
What OwnerRez still does that we do not
- OwnerRez has channel management. It syncs directly by API with Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, and Google Vacation Rentals, in both directions: rates, availability, and stay rules. We have none. Our front page says calendar sync is iCal, which carries availability and nothing else. OwnerRez's channel manager is a different order of thing entirely.
- Owner statements are covered. Its Property Management add-on calculates commission and generates monthly owner statements. If you manage units you do not own, our own site tells you plainly we are not ready for you yet. OwnerRez is.
- Guest messaging comes with automation: templates, triggers, native Airbnb and Vrbo and Booking.com message threads in one inbox, and an optional AI assistant that can answer guests directly. We have none of this.
- Dynamic pricing is a native integration category on its list. We connect operators to tools they already use, starting with a PriceLabs referral, not a built integration.
- Damage protection is resold through RentalGuardian, priced per booking. We insure nothing and guarantee nothing, and the front page says so.
- OwnerRez is a live product with real customers, published reviews, and years of operation. We do not exist yet, and every page says so.
What we do that OwnerRez does not
The list is short.
- We charge one flat price with nothing to configure. OwnerRez splits ten-plus capabilities into separate paid toggles, each with its own pricing table to track. Whatever we build ships at one price, with no add-on menu.
- Our price stays flat above roughly 46 units. Below that, OwnerRez is cheaper, and the table above says so.
The actual reason to consider this over OwnerRez
For almost every operator, it is not price or features. OwnerRez is a full platform for people who want channel management, owner accounting, guest messaging automation, and reporting in one place, and that comes with a lot to learn: its features page lists ten separate categories before you reach the paid add-ons. If what you want is the narrower thing, your own booking page and your own Stripe account and nothing else to configure, the narrowness is the product. It is a real tradeoff, and for most operators OwnerRez is probably the more complete answer today.
