Deposit terms

Last updated 23 August 2026. Applies to the $99 founding host deposit only.

Draft, not yet reviewed by counsel. This page is written in plain English by the people building the product, not by a lawyer, and it has not been reviewed by one. It is published in this state deliberately, because taking money behind a dead link would be worse. It will be replaced before any deposit is charged.

1. What the deposit is

The $99 is a refundable deposit. It is not a purchase, a licence, a subscription, or a payment for software. No software is delivered in exchange for it, now or on any guaranteed date. What it buys is a place in the founding host queue and a price lock, both described below.

The deposit is charged by NJLIGames Ltd, a New York corporation, through Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe and are never received or stored by us.

2. What it entitles you to

It does not entitle you to equity, a share of revenue, a guaranteed feature, a guaranteed launch date, or any specific functionality. Anything described on the marketing page is an intention, not a commitment.

3. Refunds

On request, at any time, for any reason or none. Email hello@shorttermrentaldirect.com with the word refund. There is no form, no retention offer, and no requirement to explain yourself. The refund is issued to the original card. Expect it to be initiated within 3 business days and to appear according to your bank's own timing, typically 5 to 10 business days.

Two refunds happen automatically, without you having to ask:

If the product changes materially from what was described when you paid, we will tell you what changed and offer a refund at that point rather than assuming you still want in.

4. What happens to the money in the meantime

Deposits sit in the company's Stripe balance and are not spent on operating costs before 13 November 2026, the end of the 60 day decision window, so that a full refund is always available on demand. This is a stated commitment by the company, not a legal trust, escrow, or segregated client account, and it is not protected by any deposit insurance scheme. Weigh it accordingly before paying. If the company became insolvent, you would be an unsecured creditor.

5. Price and tax

$99 is in United States dollars. Where sales tax applies to the deposit, it is included in that figure rather than added at checkout. Subscription prices quoted on the marketing page are the founding rates and are subject to the same treatment at launch.

6. What we do with your data

Two separate sets of data, held for different reasons.

If you pay: Stripe holds your payment details and gives us your email, name, the amount, and the tier you selected. We keep transaction records for as long as tax and accounting rules require.

If you fill in the survey: we hold your email and your answers. We use them to decide what to build and to email you when there is genuine news. That is the whole list of uses.

We do not sell it, rent it, share it with data brokers, or hand it to advertisers. Every email carries an unsubscribe link. Ask us to delete your record and we will, subject only to keeping the transaction records the law requires us to keep. Requests go to the same address as refunds.

7. Disputes

If something has gone wrong, email us first. A refund is faster than a chargeback and we have no reason to argue about one. Nothing here removes any right you have under the consumer protection law of your state.

8. Changes to these terms

The terms that apply to your deposit are the ones published on the day you paid. If this page changes afterwards, the earlier version still governs your deposit. Superseded versions are kept and available on request.
